Tourism interactions with seahorses, pipefishes, pipehorses & seadragons

Ever wondered what you should do when you encounter a syngnathid? Wonder no more!

See our position statement on tourism interactions with seahorses, pipefishes, pipehorses & seadragons: concerns, recommendations, code of conduct & best practices.

As the designated global authority on seahorses and their relatives, we are supportive of sustainable syngnathid tourism. We acknowledge that well-managed tourism can create alternative livelihoods, sustain local communities, and promote interest and conservation actions for syngnathids. We emphasize that wildlife interactions must be conducted in a way which is not detrimental to syngnathids or their habitats
